Newsletter May: How to Pack So You Don’t Miss Your Flight

Background Three weekends ago, I had the joy of attending the Better Together Festival, a celebration of women with ADHD.  (And despite the cold, rainy, windy weather, it remained a celebration!)  I got to lead a hangout session, which sparked a lively discussion around how to pack for a trip in a Read more…

Background Ah, spring!  The longer days, the bright flashes of leaf buds and flowers, the scents of warm soil and rain, the long-awaited sunshine. It’s a good time of year, is it not?  It’s also a great opportunity to admire some spring images in the context of organizing. 🙂 Organizing Read more…

Newsletter February: Unexpected Moments

Background Over the last month I haven’t been as busy with clients as I often am.  As a business owner, this can give me pause.  But I remind myself of what every experienced business person says, and that is to take advantage of your slower times and work on things Read more…

Newsletter January: A ‘Strategy Closet’ to Combat Brain Boredom

Background My clients often get frustrated because a strategy that used to help them stay focused, get started, and/or remember tasks suddenly stops working.  Some people use timers, others like post-it notes and still others find that music puts them in the right frame of mind.  For an ADD brain, however, strategy boredom Read more…

Newsletter November: December Noise

Background For some, this time of year equals more stress. The stress can be because there are more obligations, expectations, and “shoulds”.  The messages we receive from our culture about this time of year are ever present.  Even me sending this newsletter and bringing up this subject adds another voice Read more…

Newsletter October: A Strength of Character

Background We often think about how to better ourselves.  We tend to compare ourselves to others and envy their strengths. It is more effective, however, to live and work from our own strengths, particularly our character strengths.  Why?  Because when we are trying day to day to get up on time, leave on time, find Read more…

Newsletter September: Kids – They’ve Got the Right Idea

Background In the organizing world, we often talk about turning tasks into games, making the task more interesting and (not coincidentally) more motivating.  Recently, I worked alongside a *3rd grader who, with no prompting, did just that! Our job was to organize her bedroom.  In every session “Jane” discovered ways to turn our tasks Read more…

Newsletter August: Vision vs. Logistics

Background When we set off to organize, we may run into obstacles such as boredom, apathy or overwhelm. These roadblocks can arise when we struggle to balance our big organizing ideas with the rough and tumble logistics of getting them done. In any organizing project, however, both the visionary and the Read more…

Prior to

seeking out Susan’s guidance .. I had a preconceived notion that a Home Organizer wouldn’t give me much of a choice other than: “Keep”, “Donate”, or “Throw-Out”. I was afraid I’d be forced to get rid of things before I truly understood why I still have them. But with Susan, it’s been a remarkable experience … full of emotion, soul-searching, tears, enlightenment, and lots of laughter. Susan has every attribute that has made this experience one that I always look forward to … and don’t fear … because she earned my trust on Day One … actually … even before that. Susan earned my trust and respect when she spent an hour on the phone with me for our initial conversation.
